Saturday Best Ball... Euro's captain heard saying "do your part and take no prisoners". Europe trims Canadians lead down to 1 point!

Saturday, Best Ball, AM
Pine Ridge Tattler
AP They’re back! And if anyone had thought the Euros were going to roll over or go away, give your head a shake. It might have been the previous column, but the mere mention of beer, putts and patios may have been all the motivation necessary to kick start the blackshirts.

Collectively they roared out of the blocks on Saturday in Best Ball and never looked back. The course was littered with red shirts, dazed and confused, wondering what they had done to inspire the wrath of the Euros.

Captain Rick could be heard inspiring his charges down the stretch: “Want to end up sitting in the shade out there in April and May? Want your beer brought warm as they search for your sorry butts in the nether regions of that beautiful pantheon to mead and swill? Want our dynasty to end with a whimper instead of a bang? Of course not, then do your part and take no prisoners!”

Quick takes:
Match 13
Kinley/Thompson vs Connelly/Hogg
Hogg Hogs the Course

A net 66 by Dave scares Kinley and Thompson. Ken was heard whispering to Graham. “If there was another 6 in there it’d be the devil sign. This Ridger’s getting spooky.” Europe 4 & 2

Match 14
Massey/Ramsay vs O’Brien/Butler
Twin Towers Toppled

Too many two’s: Too many strokes by the Euros, too many good shots by the Euros, and two missed opportunities by the Canucks. Europe 3 & 1

Match 15
Teplitski/Harrison vs Aronec/Olinkin
Third time Lucky?

Carl with partner shaves strokes to best Euros. Will Aronec gain revenge in singles as he’s now 0 and 2 against the wily old veteran. Lone morning point for Canada.

Match 16
Spelmer/Puhach vs King/McRedmond
Bang Bang and Putt Putt

This was a good one but with TJ’s length and Gary’s short game, Euro’s triumph 1 up.

Match 17
Sovak/Todoruk vs Saranchuk /Hetherington
Oh Captain, My Captain

Are these captains hot or what. Neither has lost a match and the fine play continues with Euros 1 up winners.

Match 18
Bale/Stastook vs Wattman/Mitchell
Done Like Toast

Note sent to me was terse: “ Bale and Stastook got smoked 4 and 3.” Nuff said

PM Matches

Match 19
Vogelsang/Fallis vs Manchulenko/Rasmussen
My Kingdom for a Chip

And he got it. Captain Karl was saved from sure disaster with Bob’s chip-in on 18 for the win 1 up. Let me repeat: Are these captains on fire or what?

Match 20
Denboer/Borgstram vs Smith/Duncan
Not again

Yes, again. The second Euro net 66, this time by Stew drops Denboer and Borgstram at 18. Euros 1 up

Match 21
Duncan/Masters vs McAvoy/Wheddon
Canucks Master Opposition

Canada took control early and a birdie sealed the deal on #15. Canada wins 4 and 3.

Match 22
Tibbs/Wilgosh vs Prystayko/Braun
Birdieville

Mike had 6 birdies and Dennis matched with 5. Both Wilgosh and Braun played key support roles but when the dust had cleared, Euros win 1 up.

Match 23
Bowles/Wray vs Kenwood/Richardson
Bowling for wins

A tight match all the way to 16 where Gary, with directional assistance from his partner, rolls one in from the gully to close out 4 and 2.

Match 24
Wizniak/Fletcher vs Loewen/Pare
The wiz that was!

No “pare_ity”here... the wiz was and couldn’t be pepe_d up! Euro’s draw even closer.

Final Note: Hang on boys, Sunday’s matches are looking too close to call and the outcome of Ridger Cup #17 is WIDE OPEN!
Canada 12.5
Europe 11.5
